Moodle Wins in Research Study of the Top Ten LMS’s!
The following data is excerpted from the 2008 “Guild Research 360° Report on Learning Management Systems” from The eLearning Guild.
Market Share: In a comparison of the ten most popular products used by corporations of all sizes, Moodle ranks 1st with the highest market share (18.6%).
Cost: When comparing the same top ten LMS products in terms of cost per learner to acquire, install, and customize the LMS, Moodle ranks 1st again. Both Moodle’s median and average initial costs per learner fall below all other products – Moodle costs are $5.83/learner (median) and $16.77/learner (average). SAP has the highest average cost at $275/learner.
Moodle ranks 1st in terms of:
- Time to roll-out/implement
- Satisfaction with cost
- Ease of installation
- Ease of customization
- Ease of use for course designers
- Business impact (does it really provide measurable results?)
- Assessment capabilities
Moodle ranks 2nd in terms of:
- Ease of use for learners
- Ease of use for administrators
- Ability to support different models and sequences of blended learning, including instructor-led
- Usefulness (does it really help people to learn or perform better?)
- Reporting capabilities
Moodle ranks 3rd in terms of:
- Effectiveness in migrating existing content, learning assets, courses, etc.
- Ability to integrate with LCMS
